Daily Pawsitivity
Effective September 7, 2026
This policy explains what Pawsitivity collects, why, and the choices you have. SelfWell operates Pawsitivity. We built it to be a private, gentle place — the short version is below, with the details after.
You can use Pawsitivity in one of two ways. If you sign in with Google, we receive your account identifier, email address, display name, and profile photo from Google. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your account identifier and, depending on what you choose to share, your email address and name — if you pick Hide My Email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address, never your real one. If you continue as a guest, we create an anonymous app-generated identifier only — no name, email, or photo — and you can link a Google or Apple account later while keeping the same data.
The heart of the app: your daily moods and emotions, optional free-text notes, gratitude items, intentions, custom tasks, breathing sessions, and the streak, treats, and cosmetics you earn. These are stored privately under your account.
If you add a photo to a check-in, it is stored privately with your account and is never used for advertising or sent to our AI provider.
Adding a friend is optional and mutual — you share a short code, and a friendship is only created once you both agree. If you do, we store the friendship (including both people's display names) and a lightweight "presence" record. Accepted friends can see your name and whether you checked in today — and nothing else. They cannot see your moods, notes, entries, or your streak.
If you send feedback or report a bug from inside the app, we receive your message (a rating and/or text) and, for bug reports, the app version. These are submitted anonymously — we do not attach your account identifier, email, or name, so a submission can't be traced back to you (which also means we can't reply to it directly).
The app keeps small preference flags in your browser's local storage (for example, whether you've seen a one-time prompt, and your AI-reflections setting) and an offline cache of your own data so it works smoothly. This stays on your device.
If you turn on notifications, your device gives us a push token — an anonymous address for that one device — which we store with your account so we can send the reminder or nudge you asked for. It contains none of your entries, and the notification itself carries only a short cue, never the contents of a check-in. Turn notifications off in your phone's settings and the token stops being used; deleting your data removes it.
You can lock the app behind Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. This runs entirely on your phone through Apple's own system: we never see, receive, or store your face, fingerprint, or passcode — the phone simply tells the app yes or no. Nothing about it leaves your device, and we keep no record of when you unlock.
To understand how the app is working and where to improve it, we collect anonymous, aggregated usage metrics through Google Analytics (GA4) — for example, which screens are opened and which features are used, together with a random analytics identifier. This is deliberately content-free by design: your moods, emotions, journal notes, gratitude, intentions, and wellbeing check-in answers are never sent to analytics.
To tailor the app to you, we also store the written reflections it generates for you and a small amount of behind-the-scenes personalization data — for example, settings that adjust the suggestions and reminders you see. This stays private to your account and is erased when you delete your data.
We do not use your entries to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your data.
Paws generates reflections with Google Gemini using your check-in data. We do not share your name, email, or other identifiers. Google does not use your prompts or its output to improve or train its models. You can turn these reflections off at any time (Settings → Profile), which stops the requests entirely.
We don't sell your information or share your entries with other people. We do rely on a small set of service providers to run the app, and your data passes through them:
Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law.
We keep your entries until you delete them. From inside the app, Settings → Profile → Your data → Delete my data permanently erases your account and your entries — moods, gratitude, intentions, notes, photos, streak, treats, and your social footprint (friendships, presence, and your friend code).
Feedback and bug reports you send are kept separately for support and product history, but they are anonymous — they carry no account identifier, email, or name. So there is nothing personal in them to remove, and nothing that identifies you survives when you delete your data.
Two small things outlive deletion, and we want to be plain about them. If you redeemed a friend's invite code, we keep a one-way hash of the email you signed up with (not the email itself) so the same person cannot claim the same invite reward twice; it links to no entries and we cannot turn it back into your address. And if you sent a friend a gift or a boop, their copy of it keeps your display name until they open it — it is their record, in their account.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Pawsitivity gives you direct control over most of this:
To exercise any right, contact hello@dailypawsitivity.com. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Subject to the exceptions the law allows, you can ask us to:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no opt-out to give you there.
To make a request, email hello@dailypawsitivity.com. We may ask you for enough information to confirm the request is really yours before we act on it, and an authorized agent acting for you will need to show they have your permission. We won't discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Access to your data is restricted to your account by server-side security rules, and data is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what is collected in the first place.
Pawsitivity is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@dailypawsitivity.com and we'll delete it.
Our service providers (Google and Vercel) may process and store data in the United States and other countries. By using Pawsitivity, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
If we make changes, we'll update the effective date above, and we'll note anything significant. Continued use of Pawsitivity after an update means you accept the revised policy.
